The mission of the Department of Health Policy and Management (HPM) is to promote the importance of health care access, cost, and delivery by training students to become leaders in health policy, health services research, and health care management.

The Rollins HPM department is an ideal graduate program for students interested in addressing inequities in the U.S. health care delivery system through health policy and health care management strategies. HPM students can start making a difference as soon as they enter our program through the Rollins Applied Practice Experience (APE). APE gives students opportunities to work with local, state, and national organizations; research centers; and consulting firms to gain on-the-job experience and training.

We provide a multidisciplinary course of study that prepares students to meet the changing demands of health care, public health, and health policy environments. HPM offers four different degree programs:
- MPH in Health Policy: Designed to provide students with a broad understanding of how federal, state, and local policies shape the U.S. health-care system.
- MPH in Health Care Management: For toward students interested in building a leadership career for the delivery of health-care services.
- 12-Month Accelerated MPH in Health Care Management: An accelerated version of the MPH in Health Care Management.
- MSPH in Health Services Research: Aimed toward students interested in research or to those who wish to pursue a doctoral degree.

HPM is welcoming a new Department Chair, Dr. Stephen W. Patrick
Dr. Stephen W. Patrick joins Rollins from Vanderbilt University where he serves as professor of pediatrics and health policy, William R. Long Director of Child Health Policy at the Vanderbilt Center for Child Health Policy, and as an attending neonatologist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He previously served as senior policy advisor to the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy where he led an interagency policy process that resulted in the administration’s action plan to improve outcomes for pregnant people with substance use disorder and their infants.

Collaborative research is a key aspect of the HPM program. We partner with Emory University affiliates, The Carter Center, the CDC, the World Health Organization, and the World Bank among many others. Recent research projects include:
